Chris Davy – Founder of Draw It Books
Hi, I’m Chris Davy, the founder of Draw It Books and the creator of the iOS app Drawn from Memory — a language learning app that helps learners memorise vocabulary by using drawing, wordplay, and games.
Based in Exeter, Devon, I have worked across education, training, and performance for well over a decade.
I currently work as an Economic Development Officer at Devon County Council, helping in a variety of ways to support individuals, businesses, and infrastructure across the region.
About Me
I was born in Wolverhampton in 1985, and moved to Exmouth, Devon at the age of 8. I’ve spent most of my life in the South West, with a few stints back in the Midlands and near London.
I studied Film Studies and Media & Cultural Studies at Kingston University. Since graduating, I’ve worked in a wide range of roles — from education and training to sport, coaching, administration, retail, creative projects, and entertainment.
I’m a musician, sports fan, writer, and educator. I believe in making education more enjoyable and accessible — especially for those who struggle in traditional classrooms.
In 2024, I launched Drawn from Memory, an iOS app that helps learners master French, German, Spanish, and English vocabulary through drawing, memory techniques, and mini games. You can learn more about the app here.
I currently live in Exeter with my fiancé, our son, and our cat — I’m always working on something new that helps people learn and grow.
